lyrics

From a certain height all our lives seem bright, but nothing changes.
And that's why I climbed up on this roof tonight.
Alone with just my thoughts and the gentle hum, of the engines.
I gaze upon a thousand homes, and I've never felt quite so alone.

I trace each tiny crack in the chimney stacks, at the factory.
It's weathered face, like each life displaced.
Left it empty here and they disappeared, moving forward.
To leave their histories behind and their worried friends far from their mind.

And still we try, to feel something,
But we can't know, what it's like
We're just grateful, that it's not us

Every light I see shines on someone like me, casting shadows,
That's why they've built walls around themselves.
Though we share our lives and suffer the same strife, we stay seperate.
True empathy unknown, all I'll ever feel is on my own.
